Poll Taxism
How the outfit known as the Christian Alliance is carrying on its fascist campaign against organized labor in the southern states is told in a recent issue of The Southern Patriot.
Besides the phony "right to work" measure, which is in fact only a measure to smash unions, the CA has an "anti-violence" measure it is promoting. Explains the Patriot:
"Under this proposed law, all that's necessary to break up a Labor Union is for an employer to get a stooge to charge that Union officials, members or pickets have threatened, (not necessarily committed) violence 'to deprive him of his right to work.' Stiff sentences and heavy fines do the rest, and everybody who opposes these laws is accused of upholding the right to riot."
It is worth noting that this rash reactionary blitzkrieg has hatched in the South, where the disgracefully un-American Poll Tax keeps thousands of workers from defending themselves at the ballot box.
