Full Text
Dr. Gerald Sanders, who has been teaching in the Shrivenham American University in England, writes that he expects soon to conclude his work there and, after a possible continental lecture tour, to return home. He has found his soldier students interested and responsive, and, if housing is provided, he anticipates that many will continue their educations at the Normal College here.
He adds, "My finest young men will be coming home soon from the Navy or Army with wives and babies and dogs and cats and gold fish and I'm going to lose them—if I can't find some place for them to live. Ypsilanti by its location and for other reasons should appeal to able young men; but in general these have spent all they have on their education and have no back log, even of bonds, with which to buy homes. I think a decent place to live for younger faculty members is almost a condition for development of the Normal College."
He urges that four, five and six room apartments be constructed here to meet the needs of the post war period.
