An igneous meteor lately exploded over the street of Pont de Vaux, in the department of L'Ain. Its progress was from S. west to N. east. Its appearance was at the hour of ten in the evening. It went off with the noise of a 24 pounder. Its elevation was not apparently more than thirty fathoms. It burst into fragments, which fell into the gardens, and were presently extinguished with a little smoke, but to touch. It was about a foot and a half in diameter. The air had been very hot all day. Westward the sky was first dark, and then suddenly illuminated; only a few drops of rain fell.
