President Pierce Mixed up with the Filibusters.—A singular development was made the other day in New York on the examination of Messrs. Fabens, Boulton and other filibustering gentlemen, showing that the President Pierce was deeply interested in Col. Kenney's speculations. Mr. William L. Cazneau testified directly to the President being partner with Col. Kenney in the famous Shepherd grant, which covers some twenty-five millions of acres, embracing Greytown and its vicinage. The share of the President is said to be one-twelfth, in other words, something more than 2,000,000 acres. When Kenney and Fabens commenced their operations, they were fiercely pursued by the Government for attempting to land a cargo of emigrants on the Mosquito Coast, but some time after this policy toward them was suddenly changed, which change is supposed to have been brought about by a hinting Mr. Pierce to share in the speculation. It is also inferred that the late zeal of the Government against Walker may have been somewhat stimulated by the same cause. How much or how little truth there may be in these statements we have no means of determining, and give them on the strength of filibustering evidence.

Testimony by William L. Cazneau alleges President Pierce partnered with Col. Kenney in the Shepherd land grant of over 25 million acres near Greytown, holding a one-twelfth share; this purportedly led to a government policy change from pursuing filibusters to supporting them, and increased zeal against Walker.
