R. W. Baxter lodge, Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, gave its annual ball at its hall in the Collins block last night. The last number on the program not being finished until after 4 o'clock this morning. The dance was in charge of a general committee consisting of Ed Murphy, Ed Bateman and Will Rice, who named the other committees from among the members of the lodge, the lodge in a body forming the reception committee and the ladies auxiliary the supper committee.

The room was quite well filled, but it is a large hall and the dancing was uninterrupted from the first number to the last, except during a midnight intermission for luncheon. The ladies auxiliary having done themselves credit by their efforts in this line. The tables were filled with a large number of articles for the inner man, including coffee, cold meats, salads, pickles, preserves and cakes, beginning with a generous oyster stew and trimmings.

The trainmen are noted for their successful dances, and the one last night was decidedly not an exception to the general rule. The guests remained until the end almost to an individual, and when they did go home it was with the heartiest congratulations to the management of the dance and the splendid supper.
