Grief For A Departed Mother.

Jacob Shaffer, aged twenty-two years, committed suicide in Philadelphia on Saturday night, 5th inst, by taking laudanum, at the stable of Mr. Chew, Fourth street, near South. Deceased in a chaise. It is supposed that grief, for the loss of his mother, induced the commission of the act. The following is the copy of a note which he had written upon a slate in the office:

Mr. Chew—By the time you are up in the morning I shall be no more. I have seen enough of the world, so farewell. Something says I can see my mother, if I go now. I don't want a doctor about me, so you know; now don't for my sake. Bury me by the side of mother. There is scales over my eyes now. I have no more to say.
