Full Text

The resolution proposing an amendment to the constitution, to establish an uniform mode of election of electors of president and vice president of the United States, and representatives to congress, has been rejected. Had the votes against it, however, been fewer by twelve (or one fifteenth of the whole number of representatives,) the resolution had passed the house. Having long believed this amendment to be in every view desirable, it is a consolation to perceive, from the gathering number of its friends, that the day of its adoption is not far distant.
