Full Text

Extract of a letter from London, dated May 6, 1768.
"Yesterday there was a report of an insurrection in America, which caused stocks to fall one and a half per cent. I look on it only as a stockjobber's artifice to sell stocks, that he may buy in. The pieces printed in your city, signed a Farmer, do great honour to the writer. They have had great effect with every thinking person here, and Mr. De B---t tells me that the Board of Trade feels the weight of them more than any thing that has been wrote on that subject, and he says they have staggered them very much. They are ascribed to Mr. D------ by every body that knows him. I am much chagrined that I have it not in my power to say with certainty who is the author, as the subject is so glorious, and the writer derives to himself so much credit."
