Petersburg, Aug. 22.--An investigation into the facts incident to the death of Evelyn Webb, who died at the home of her father, Henry Webb, of Gulfport, will be reopened tomorrow morning when State Attorney M. A. McMullen will arrive from Clearwater to take up the matter.
He will attempt to ascertain definitely whether the child died of poisoning and if so whether there is evidence of crime in the case.
After the child's death, an autopsy was performed by physicians under Justice J. M. Endicott conducting a hearing in an attempt to establish facts in the case. No decision was reached although it was thought that poison, probably eaten in pancakes served for breakfast, had caused the child's death.
The viscera was sent to the laboratory of the State Board of Health in Jacksonville for chemical analysis of the stomach and their contents. The laboratory officials there reported that analysis for bacteria were negative.
The organs were then placed in storage in Tampa to await the outcome of an attempt to have state officials order an analysis in another laboratory.
Whether this analysis is made will depend upon what Mr. McMullen decides tomorrow. He probably will question a number of witnesses.
