The inhabitants of the borough of Reading, Pa., have been considerably excited in consequence of the death, from hydrophobia, of a son of Mr. Wm. Yohn, aged 7 years. It appears that during the past summer the citizens had almost unanimously petitioned the town council to pass an ordinance prohibiting dogs from going at large, unless muzzled, and that the council refused. In August the boy was bitten by a dog, but the wound healed up in a few days, and nothing more was thought of it until Tuesday last, when he was seized with hydrophobia, and died an awful death on Friday. The practice of permitting dogs to run at large in towns and cities is highly censurable: and nowhere is the complaint against it more general, and less heeded, than in Baltimore.
