"The Gallant Hero who Saved Us."--
While Mr. Chandler the Whig candidate for Governor, was speaking the other day at Kalamazoo, Michigan, of the noble conduct of Gen. Scott in saving the lives of twenty Irish prisoners he was suddenly interrupted with "I am one of these same men, and propose three cheers for the gallant hero who saved us!" Three cheers were accordingly given for old Chippewa and three more for the gallant old fellow who fought under him. Mr. Chandler had living evidence of his statement. The Irishman had proof of what he represents himself to be.
