The Charge Dismissed.
Policeman J. F. Welch was before the Police Commission last night upon a charge of conduct unbecoming an officer, preferred by Wm. Duling of No. 1302 French street. The cause of the trouble was a crying baby in the Duling home. It appeared from the testimony that Frank White, who lives a square away, was bothered by Duling's baby crying. He went to the house of the policeman and spoke about the child crying and said that he had heard that it was being cruelly treated. Welch went back with Mr. White to the Duling house and went inside to investigate. After hearing the testimony the charge against the officer was dismissed.
