PORTSMOUTH. October 21.

We hear from Providence, that the ship Washington, which lately arrived at that place from London, has brought for Dartmouth College, a respectable Apparatus, some curiosities for a Museum, and the amount of a Legacy of the late Hon. Col. Atkinson, in Books for the Library, and a number of volumes in addition.—The preceding endowments are the effects of the beneficence of particular gentlemen beyond the atlantic, whose benevolence is united to the prosperity of literature, and the rising of our western empire.
