Railroad People Take Down Request a Put Before County.
As was predicted in The News of Friday, Attorney S. W. Belford, representing Messrs. Bernheimer, Thompson and Smith in their application for a franchise for a right-of-way for the Ely Goldfield railroad through White Pine County, appeared before the adjourned meeting of the board of county commissioners Friday morning, and withdrew the document from further consideration. Mr. Belford explained that the action of the city council of Ely in laying on the table the application for a franchise for a right-of-way through the city made the route outlined in the county application impractical. Mr. Belford's request to withdraw the application was granted.
Aside from the withdrawal of the franchise application, only matters of a routine character came up. A. B. Colwell was authorized to make maps of each township in the county, and a few small bills were allowed.
