Hundreds of Jews Arrested, Placed
In Detention Barracks in Berlin

BERLIN, Oct. 28. (UP)—Several
hundred Jews, most of them young
men,
were arrested in a sudden
police round-up this morning and
transported in buses to the unused
Alexander barracks near police
headquarters in the Alexanderplatz.

It was reported that authorities
intended to send several thousand
Polish Jews, including those arrested this morning, across the frontier into Poland by midnight.

So far as was known all persons
arrested were Polish speaking.

It was estimated that 200 to 300
persons
were
inside the barracks.

A United Press correspondent who
stood outside the barracks saw two
truckloads taken off in a northerly
direction. No information was available as to their destination but it
was assumed that they might be
going to concentration camps.
