Progress In A good Direction.—At the recent session of the Pacific Conference the Rev. J. Lewis Shuck, presented his credentials from the San Francisco Baptist Association, as fraternal delegate, bearing the kindly regards and Christian sympathies of that body to the Conference. Rather a novel movement, but in the right direction, surely. Might not other Associations commend themselves to the christian world by doing likewise? Besides the pastoral charge of a Baptist Congregation in San Francisco, Mr. Shuck is missionary to the Chinese. He has built a neat Chinese chapel, where he holds service for them each Sabbath. He introduced to the Conference a native assistant, Wong Ah Mooney, who made some appropriate and touching remarks concerning his faith in the true God, the degraded condition of his countrymen, and his determination to labor for their conversion. This is an appropriate field for a Chinese missionary.
