Full Text
Comparing Bache's counter-statement with the article in this Gazette of Saturday, under the title of the Triumph of Order, it appears that the variations are of trifling importance. The information was received through channels which were supposed authentic; and if there were errors they principally arose from confounding some recent transactions with others which took place last Autumn. Intentional deception, on the part of the Editor, never disgraced the pages of this Gazette—but if falsehood would ensure a niche in the temple of infamy, it is not a solitary opinion that the Editor of the Aurora has a claim superior to every competitor in the United States.
