Full Text
DOUGLAS' NEW PLATFORM.-Douglas' position on the slavery question has heretofore been, "I don't care whether slavery is voted up or down." But he has recently changed ground, for we find in his speech at Petersburg, Va., made the 25th of last month, as published in democratic papers, the following explicit and unqualified declaration:
"Congress shall never prohibit slavery anywhere, if I can prevent it."
So it is no longer true that Mr. Douglas "don't care;" he does care, and his care will be to prevent Congress from prohibiting slavery anywhere. Let it be so understood.
