West Side
Sudden Proposal Staggers
That Section of City.

UNFAIR TO LONG
TIME TAXPAYERS

The Westside already an established industrial and residential section will be vitally affected by the closing of Missouri Avenue and Higbee Road because of the convenience to the residents and business enterprises in using this artery of ingress to the city, and in travelling to the downtown section of Absecon Island. It will be especially hard on the delivery systems of the commercial enterprises located in that section making it necessary for them to go in a round about manner to get to the lower end of the island as well as forcing them to go through the congested section created by railway freight shifting.

Much ground now open and eventually available for increased ratables will be forever choked from future development and improvement. For years the Westside has been beseeching the city to Improve Missouri Avenue and Higbee Road and only recently had begun to receive assurance that such improvement might take place. Suddenly comes the proposal to vacate it Is this just treatment of a section of the city that has long been established and bearing their just share of taxes?

Is It a Gift, or Do We Pay
for It Is the
Question?

ORDINANCE
LACKS INFORMATION

In the interesting ordinance presented, nothing is said of the block of ground between Atlantic, Arctic. Missouri and Arkansas Aves., which was to become an open plaza or park. Does the railroad company expect to turn this over to the city as a gift for such purpose or does it expect Atlantic City to purchase it? If the latter, what is the price, what added cost to the "gift"?

WEST SIDE TAXPAYERS
OPPOSE ORDINANCE

The Westside Taxpayers' association, of Venice Park, according to report, has adopted resolutions opposing the terminal plans. They explained that the closing of Higbee road, Missouri avenue, would strangle the future growth of Venice Park.
