POST ROADS. It is singular, but true, that eight years ago encouragement was barely given for two stages, and twelve horses, on the great road between this town and New-Haven, a distance of 170 miles—whereas at this time, there are upwards, of an hundred horses, and twenty carriages employed!
The number of different regular Stages that run in the course of a week, from this town, are upwards of Twenty: Eight years ago there were but three.
The regular, direct Post-Road from Wiscasset, in this Commonwealth, to Sunbury, in Georgia, embraces Sixty-Four post-towns, and a distance of 1513 miles. This, with the cross roads established, make near 20,000 miles over which mails are sent. The Patriot will contemplate this circumstance, with pleasure.
