George Ford Brown, tried in the Fulton Superior Court on a grand jury indictment charging him with assault with intent to murder, robbery and escape from a Fulton County road prison camp, following an alleged conspiracy for the acts with six other prisoners was convicted late Monday by a 12-man all-white jury, sitting before Judge A. L. Etheridge. Brown was convicted of misdemeanors in each charge with sentences to run concurrently. He will serve 12 months in all total as recommended by the jury after its findings. Brown was charged with the six accomplices, all prisoners, with assaulting four prison guards and camp officials at the camp, taking their guns by overpowering them, making threats upon their lives, and taking their truck and escaping to Atlanta where Brown was apprehended the day after the break. At that time he was serving 12 months for burglary. The victims of the assault testified against Brown. Defense counsel was Attorney Stonecypher. Prosecutor was J. R. Parham.
