In the House of Assembly, on Wednesday, a resolution was introduced, requiring the attorney general to state what proceedings have been instituted by him to restrain the banking operations of the Utica Insurance Company, and what has prevented a final termination of the proceedings relative to the same. On Thursday, Mr. Edwards gave notice of his intention to introduce a bill to repeal the act relating to the New York ferries.—An act of honor to the memory of General Montgomery, was read a third time and passed. Mr. Powell brought in a bill to explain the duties of the collectors of taxes within this state, which was read twice. Mr. Root introduced a resolution which was ordered to lie on the table, that the chancellor be requested to lay before the House a new tariff or bill of fees proper to be allowed in the court of chancery, without regard to any laws or usages of that court now in force.
The Senate, on Friday, rejected the bill from the House, authorizing the clerks of the two houses to contract for the state printing.
