COL. GRAVES, AT WYATT.

Editor of the Anti-Bank Republican.

Wyatt, Sept. 14th, 1841.

Dear Sir—This was the day, according to previous appointment, that the Hon J. Thompson and Col. Graves had set apart to address the people of this place.

Mr. T., in consequence of bad health, failed to do so; but Col. Graves, the democratic anti-bond candidate for State Treasurer, made his appearance and transcended the most ardent expectations of his friends. He made one of the most powerful and convincing speeches upon the bond question, I have ever heard.

He completely demolished the position of the bond payers, and left them not one inch of ground upon which to rest their unjust and sinking cause.

There were present a large number of persons three-fourths at least, were anti-bond payers. Those who were doubting and wavering, were fully convinced of the unconstitutionality of the sales of the bonds, and the unjustness of the bond men, in their artful attempts to make the people pay them. Those strong in the good cause were confirmed in faith, and many who had previously thought the state should pay the bonds, were compelled to acknowledge their error, and declared their intention of supporting no man, at the coming election, who was a bond payer.

Take my word for it, the anti-bond party is rapidly gaining strength in this quarter, and by the first Monday in November, the King of Holland, Baron Rothschild, and the Prince of Adalusia, will scarcely have a "bond man" to advocate their unhallowed cause in this part of the country, except some few "loafers" who have "licked the lass'es stopper"

Yours, G.
