Street Work Takes Big Share Of Tax

The largest portion of the yearly budget for the Town of Dunn goes for the maintenance of public work. More than half the total general fund expenditures are budgeted for the upkeep of the town's property.

Of this amount, $31,075 is used for street maintenance. The estimated cost for the coming year is aside from the additional $23,000 allocated under the Powell Bill, which is also applied to streets.

Administration and engineering costs call for an appropriation of $5,795. Sanitation and street cleaning call for nearly as much, with sanitation drawing $23,815 and $7,220 apportioned for street cleaning. Just the item of keeping Dunn clean costs a sizable sum.

Park maintenance will cost $1,200 during the coming year and the upkeep of the cemeteries will cost $9,015. Public building maintenance will require an additional $16,375 from the public treasury. The smallest item of this particular section of the budget is the $300, apportioned for the repair shop and garage.
