SCRAPING THE PAN
By M. J. V.

Baking day has come again,
We'll eat whate'er we can;
It doesn't matter much to us,
We always get the pan.

Papa says of all the week
No day's so hard on man;
It doesn't bother us at all-
We want to get the pan.

Dinners full are not so good,
Or nothing in all the pan'.
On that day its certain, sure,
We get to scrape the pan.

Grown up people
Keep the flies all off the things;
We're so good to sit and fan-
It's 'cause we'll have the pan.

Wouldn't be big for anything,
For I couldn't take my hand,
After ma has made a cake,
To rake and scrape the pan.

Children's ways make happy days
None may have so good a time
Dispute it who ever can,
As we who scrape the pan.
