Important Mission. Hon. Frank P. Dugan starts overland for the States within a few days, for the purpose of delivering a series of lectures in the cities of Chicago, New York, Boston, Cincinnati, and other cities of the East, upon the climate, mining, and agricultural resources, scenery, and other incidents of the North Pacific Coast, with a view of laying before the laboring millions of those cities, the advantages of Oregon and Washington for permanent homes, and also inducing capitalists to take hold and build our Railroads, and thereby furnish us and the large, anticipated influx of population with markets for our vast surplus products. Mr. Dugan is an able and fluent speaker, and having resided in this city for the past seven years, having frequently visited every portion of the country about which he proposes to speak, we are confident that his visit will be mutually advantageous to the people of this country and those to whom he imparts the vast stores of useful knowledge which he has in years of personal observations and research acquired, concerning this Valley, and the adjoining Territory of Idaho as well as the State of Oregon. On the conclusion of his lecturing tour, Mr. D. proposes to publish a pamphlet for distribution, containing reliable information, statistics, etc., and which will be largely circulated in the Atlantic States, and must be the means of attracting to these shores a vast influx of immigrants. Papers in the cities named above, as well as throughout the country, are requested to give notice of Mr. D's. coming, and thus secure for him that full attendance at his lectures which their importance demands.
