The call upon Mr. Prentiss to become a candidate for United States Senator has been received with joyful acclamation by the Whigs of North Mississippi. We have several letters from Holmes, Tallahatchie, &c., which speak the unanimous voice of the whig party in favor of Mr. Prentiss. There never was a time in the history of our State when the rare talents of Mr. Prentiss were so much needed at the great council house of the nation, as the present—Mississippi wants just such a spirit in the Senate Hall, for to his talents and chivalry may safely be committed the interests and honor of our State.
