The Brunswick, Capt. Robert Steel, from Clyde to Virginia, met with a storm about 200 leagues to the west of Ireland; a sea breaking aboard almost overset her, and laid her on her beam ends, they cut away their main and mizen masts, which with difficulty righted her. Capt. Steel was found dead in the cabin, supposed to be by some blows he received by the ship's almost oversetting. Every thing was washed off the deck, but the long boat: There were only the mate, and second mate on deck, with two boys, which last were washed over board, but recovered again and saved; in this condition the Brunswick bore away for Ireland and arrived at Cork the 21st ult. to repair damages, and examine the State of her cargo.
