BIBLE STUDENT PREPARES
FOR ORIENTAL RESEARCH

BALTIMORE. Md., May 20.-(AP)-
Dr. Raymond P. Dougherty, professor of Biblical literature at Goucher College, has been appointed annual professor of the American Schools of Oriental Research at Jerusalem and Bagdad for 1925-26. He has been granted a year's leave of absence by the local institution, and will leave for the near east the latter part of July.

Dr. Dougherty said his work will include lecturing and field work along archaeological lines, with special time given to a study of the topography of the land and an examination of mounds with the possibility of identifying sites of ancient cities.

The new appointee is well known for his work in the translation of Babylonian tablets.
