Idaho.-Idaho papers
appear to have turned the cold shoulder on General
Bidwell's great Idaho and little Chico Stage Line,
and transferred their business to the line through
Nevada. The Owyhee Avalanche says:

"Through passengers by this line to California
need not go to Virginia, and will reach San Fran-
cisco in four and one half days. Parties wishing
California papers should order them by express, as
by so doing they will get them one day earlier than
by mail, as the mail must go via Virginia and the
express comes direct. Sacramento and San Fran-
cisco papers can be had here regularly in four and
five days from date."

Then follows a favorable notice of Hill Beachy,
the Superintendent of the Nevada line. The Chico
route appears to be in a bad way. Its divergence
from the true route, for the benefit of Bid-
well's ranch, and the fourteen hours detention of
its travel for the benefit of Marysville, have appa-
rently settled its hash. Here is the hand that the
Courant extended to the Avalanche last spring
and the way the Avalanche receives it.

Now, our idea is to straighten the Northern Cali-
fornia line between Susanville and Oroville, thus
lessening that portion of the route 25 miles, and
dispense with the fourteen hours detention in Ma-
rysville. Better time could then be made on this
route than on that through Nevada. And we are
going to have it that way, if we can get it. It is
the best and shortest route, if those who are now
destroying it can be choked off.
