Full Text

THE ASSASSINATION.
We lay before our readers, this morning, full details of two critical examinations to which Richard Lawrence, the maniac, who recently attempted to assassinate Gen Jackson, has been subjected, by physicians, and others, in Washington City-together with the explicit declaration of Drs. Causin and Sewall, that, on certain subjects, the unfortunate man labors under decided mental hallucination. Notwithstanding these clear and unequivocal demonstrations of his insanity, however, the Washington Globe insists upon it that Lawrence is entirely rational, and that he was instigated to the perpetration of the foul deed by some individual or individuals behind the screen! If the Editor of the Globe believes what he says, he is a credulous simpleton,--if he does not believe it, it is unnecessary to say what he is.
