There is advice by the packet from New York, that an expedition, consisting of four thousand men, was sailed under convoy of several men of war of the line to Carolina; the land forces were commanded by Col. Campbell, who had been a prisoner at Boston near two years. Advice had been received at New York of a revolt in Carolina against the Congress; prior to the troops sailing to their relief. General Clinton was preparing for another expedition, which was to march in a very few days, but was kept a secret.
