SAN DIEGO Aug. 21 (U.P.)-Three Tijuana policemen have been discharged as a result of an investigation by Tijuana officials into the charges of Mrs. Katherine Malcolm of San Francisco that she was beaten and robbed by an officer in Tijuana Monday night, it was learned today.
Although the names of the three officers were not announced and it was said they had no connection with the Malcolm case, their discharge followed closely the arrest of Jose Puente, motorcycle officer identified by Mrs. Malcolm as her assailant.
Other members of the force may be released by Mayor Bibiano Ybarra, it was learned.
Puente, who may face a Mexican firing squad if convicted of Mrs. Malcolm's charges, was still held in the Tijuana jail.
Mrs. Malcolm, in a complaint to Tijuana police and American immigration officers, charged that Puente, taking advantage of her husband's absence from their car, gave her a drugged drink, took her to a hotel room and attempted to attack her.
Her screams frightened the officer away after he had severely beaten her and robbed her of $40 she said.
