Full Text
The Destructive Press—Some of the organs of the Destructives in the large cities are still assailing the President for quoting the Constitution and laws in cases of insurrection, and intimating his determination to discharge his duty in any emergency, and at all times.—These prints care nothing for the laws. Their object is to make political capital. But they are reckoning without their host this time.—We assure our Democratic readers in those cities, that the leading Democratic Senators and Representatives in Congress (some forty in all) heartily approve every step, taken by the President in the Rhode Island affair,—Madisonian.
