IN the death of the Rev. Dr. Stillman, of Boston, you have lost an able patron, a valuable friend—a substantial advocate, an excellent man, and a Christian in deed and in truth.—All classes of Citizens delight to speak of his shining virtues and to sing aloud his praises—He was a man of taste, of learning and accomplishments: and all was crowned with strict integrity, sound morality, and every christian virtue.—
Let it be added that he was an unSHAKEN FEDERALIST—admiring and approving of the administration of Washington, Adams, and STRONG: Will you not pay more credit to the truth and judgement of Dr. Stillman, than to those who delight in abusing our excellent Governor? One sentence will satisfy your minds on this subject—IF GOVERNOR STRONG IS SUCH A MAN AS HIS ENEMIES DECLARE HIM TO BE, HOW COULD DR. STILLMAN ESTEEM AND SUPPORT HIM? Yet Dr. Stillman always did support him, and firmly rely on his worth: and you all firmly rely on the truth and excellency of Dr. Stillman—Whom will you believe?
