Drive For New
Publication
A large-scale campaign is being
launched by the State N. A. A. C.
P. Conference of Georgia, and its
junior affiliate, the Youth Confer-
ence, to secure 500 subscribers be-
fore January 15th for its new quar-
terly publication, FACT! Dr. Ralph
Mark Gilbert, president of the Con-
ference, announced Saturday.
The periodical is to be edited by
Victor Backus, a student at More-
house College and Publicity Chair-
man of the Youth Conference. The
first issue will appear late in Jan-
uary, according to Mr. Backus, and
will contain articles by leading au-
thorities in the field of Southern
race relations. The Committee for
Georgia, an affiliate of the South-
ern Conference for Human Wel-
fare, will contribute to the first
issue, as will Professor C. L. Har-
per, president of the Atlanta
Branch of the NAACP. Dr. Gilbert
and other well-known figures in
Georgia.
The publication is to sell for fifty
cents per year. This low price has
been made possible, Mr. Backus
announced, by the willingness of
everyone connected with the paper
to donate his services free of
charge. Subscriptions may be sent
directly to Victor Backus, Box 48,
Morehouse College, Atlanta or
may be secured thru local N. A. A.
C. P. branches. An interested friend
has donated a sizeable sum to be
given to the branch or Youth
Council securing the greatest num-
ber of subscribers in ratio to total
population of its community.
