FAIRBANKS (A) The bodies of two men killed in the crash of their light Army plane have been recovered from the wreckage.
Missing since Friday night when the pilot radioed Ladd AFB for landing instructions, the burned wreckage was spotted on the ice of Tanana River yesterday morning. It was about a mile and a half southeast of the Fairbanks International Airport. The plane was incoming from Galena, 300 miles west of Fairbanks.
The flight surgeon at Ladd said the pilot of the wrecked L-19 was apparently killed on impact and the passenger in the observer's seat was badly burned.
Names of the victims have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
