The students at the David T. Howard evening school during the past month have been enthusiastic over the election of a torch bearer for this school year. This enthusiasm and anxiety which hovered over the large number of politicians came to a fitting climax when the citizens cast their votes for their favorite candidate on Thursday evening.
The polls were stationed in the school building because of the inclement weather. Procedures were followed closely as possible after regular governmental procedures.
The votes cast numbered 215.
According to the official tabulation of the publicity representative, the Conservative Party won in the close race for president of the student body.
Nokomis Smith, progressive young man, whose activities are noted throughout the city was the successful candidate.
Following closely behind his heels was Alfonza Watson.
President-elect Smith in a recent meeting delivered his address which will appear within a few days.
