Full Text
Letters from Europe.
We are gratified to learn that N. H. Carter, Esq. formerly Professor at Dartmouth, and now Editor of the New York Statesman, proposes to publish, by subscription, a revised and corrected edition of his Letters from Europe, extracts from which have occasionally appeared in the Spy. They appeared originally in the New York Statesman, but about one-third of the series, comprising an interesting portion of his tour, with further notices of London and Paris, have never been published. Our regard for the rights of the author has prevented our extracting so copiously as we should like, but the avidity with which what we published has been read, induces us to believe that a liberal patronage will be extended to the proposed work. It will be comprised in two octavo volumes of 500 pages each, well executed, and will be afforded to subscribers at $2 per volume.
