LONDON, May 3.

Tuesday last a cause was tried, by a special jury, in the court of King's Bench, Guildhall, wherein an underwriter was plaintiff, and a merchant of this city defendant, for recovery of 200l. paid by the plaintiff, for loss on a policy of insurance on a ship which was proved to be wilfully sunk by the Captain in 1765. It appearing upon the trial that the merchant knew nothing of the Captain's roguery, and that he had paid the insurance to the person for whom it was made, the jury brought in a verdict for the defendant. It is said that other causes, to the value of near 30,000l. depended upon the issue of this.
