THE PLACE OF LANDING THE AMERICAN TROOPS NOT YET DECIDED ON.
MOLE, ST. NICHOLAS. June 21.-The Associated Press despatch boat Dandy brings the news of the arrival of Gen. Shafter and the transports carrying 15,000 regulars off Santiago at noon yesterday. The place of landing has not yet been decided on. There are fourteen mild cases of typhoid fever and a few cases of measles among the troops, but the troops generally are in very good condition and excellent spirits. The voyage from Tampa was without special incident
Admiral Sampson estimates 30,000 to 45,000 Spanish troops within five miles of Guantanamo ready to concentrate on the point of debarkation troops.
Desperate work is expected,
There is some anxiety about how the troops will stand the strain of immediate battle after the trying voyage but there is no fear of the result.
