Jones Resigns As Coach Here, Will Enter U. S. Army

Murray Jones, of Spartanburg, S. C., director of athletics at the Hendersonville high school during the past school term and also member of the faculty, has resigned, it was announced today.

Mr. Jones resigned to accept a commission as second lieutenant in the U. S. army.

A number of applications for the vacancy in the faculty and athletic department have already been received and are being considered, R. P. Freeze, chairman of the city school board, said this morning.

Mr. Jones came here from Spartanburg after graduating from Spartanburg high school and Wofford college, Spartanburg.
