ASK END OF CONSERVATION GRANTS

Virginia farm leaders last week called for an end to soil conservation payments to farmers. Joining in the demand were Parke C. Brinkley, commissioner of agriculture, M. A. Hubbard, executive secretary of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, and Earl Shiflet, deputy for the Virginia State Grange.

Meanwhile, an announcement from the State PMA office said a recent survey disclosed that 71 per cent of Virginia farmers want the payments continued. Prince Edward county will get $29,861 this year for distribution under the PMA-administered program.
