But Then Manager Henderson Doesn't Know the Groom
The New York Herald of this morning says that Miss Gertie Woolsey, the daughter of Grocer Charles Woolsey, of Coney Island, created a panic in her family a day or two ago by informing her mother that she had married Gilbert Stratton. The Herald adds that no record of the marriage, which she says occurred on September 15, can be found on file in the Health Department, and that she refuses to disclose the name of the officiating clergyman.
The bridegroom, the report adds, "who is twenty-one years of age, is a son of Anson W. Stratton, who is in partnership with ex-Theatrical Manager Henderson, and owns considerable property at the West End. Both the young people are reticent and do not appear to be inclined to give any information upon the subject of their marriage. It is said that young Mr. Stratton had been paying attention to a lady in Syracuse when he fell in love with Miss Woolsey."
Manager Henderson, of the Academy, was questioned about the story. He says he does not know the parties. Woolsey is said to have done a grocery business in this city.
