Full Text
The Taylor Democrats of Pennsylvania held a public meeting in Philadelphia, a few days ago, at which a series of resolutions were passed, expressive of their confidence in the no-party professions of Gen. Taylor, but expressed their dissatisfaction at his not having given the Democrats a share in the administration. Geo. Lippard, Esq. presided at this meeting, who also forwarded the proceedings to the National Whig, one of the Taylor organs at Washington, for publication in that paper—this the editor refused, when they were handed over to the Union newspaper. This is but the "beginning of the end," and the Taylor Democrats of Pennsylvania, will ere long find out that no-partyism on the part of the Whigs was mere clap trap intended to deceive them into the support of Gen. Taylor, when they will forsake their Federal allies—indeed, we have good authority for saying that if the elections were now to come off in Pennsylvania, Taylorism would be beaten as badly in that State as it has been in Virginia.
