SAVANNAH, MAY 24.

On the night of the 21st instant, seven prisoners escaped from the jail of Chatham county. Samuel Smith, Michael M'Farren, William Freeman, David Bowers, John Jinney, and John Carter, who were lodged in jail on a charge of piracy; and Samuel Lee, for a breach of the law and fine. They cut their way through the wall, and, when the eighth man was getting out, he was discovered. Eight remained in the room who had not time to get through the hole and down the rope, made of blankets. The discovery was made soon after day light.
