Full Text

NEW-YORK, August 8.

Extract of a letter from St. John's, Antigua, dated July 13.

On Monday morning last, exactly at 3 o'clock, we were alarmed with a tremulous motion of the earth, which continued increasing in its violence for near the space of a minute, when there was the most tremendous concussion of the earth ever remembered in this island. It filled every soul with consternation and terror, and died away in lessening, but sensibly-felt vibrations, for several seconds of time. We have not yet heard of any material hurt done by this terrifick visitation here.
