Full Text
very partially experienced, if not nearly lost, should Congress continue to it at Trenton. Instead of appearing in stile of magnificence maintained in foreign courts, an ambassador will land in this city, hurry up to Cape's, where he will stay a few days to renovate his constitution, and then proceed to Trenton, in an open waggon, in company with his valet de chambre, and such miscellaneous company as may be travelling that way: Let the gentleman's fund of good nature be ever so great, let his partiality for this country be ever so strong, 'tis a hundred to one but the jumbling which he will receive in the road must put him out of humour, and create a disgust in his mind against every thing he sees: at Trenton he may think himself happy in being able to gain a separate room and a bed; as soon as his business is finished, he will perhaps take a tour through the country, and then return home in high disgust with the accommodation which America affords to ambassadors.
