NEW YORK BLOCKADED.

Captain Bartlett, who arrived here last evening in the schooner May Flower, informed us, that the British line of battle ship Poictiers, Maidstone and Acasta frigate, and Sophia brig, were all yesterday off Sandy Hook, and that the Poictiers last evening at sun set, was not more than six miles from the light house.

From captain Bartlett, and several of our pilots, who came up from the Hook last evening, we learn that the above squadron captured five vessels yesterday.

Admiral Sir J. B. Warren, in the St. Domingo, of 74 guns, is cruising and intercepting all inward and outward bound vessels at Sandy Hook. He has with him the Dragon, of 74 guns, the Statira of 38 and Sophia and Colibri brigs of 18 guns each.

Capt. Beresford in the Poictiers of 74 guns, and frigates Acasta and Maidstone, are still cruising off the mouth of the Chesapeake.

The privateer Teazer, of this port was captured a few days since by the St. Domingo, and burnt.
The British Blockading Squadron.

We have but little to add to the information we gave yesterday, in relation to the British squadron now blockading our port. Accounts as to its real force are at variance. It is stated in one of the morning papers, that the squadron consists of the St. Domingo, Dragon and Poictiers, each of 74 guns; 4 or 5 frigates, and 2 or 3 smaller vessels. In another it is said, the Poictiers, captain Beresford, and the frigates Acasta and Maidstone, are still cruising off the Chesapeake; and that the squadron now off the Hook consists of the St. Domingo, Admiral Warren; the Dragon; the frigate Statira, and the brigs Colibri and Sophia. The latter statement is probably correct.

We are happy to state, that the squadron under the command of Sir J. B. Warren have not been seen from Sandy Hook since Tuesday morning, at 8 o'clock.
