Four Persons Killed in Cold Blood
by Unknown Hands.
ST. CLAIR, Pa., Oct. 10.-A dispatch was
received here this morning from Tucson, Arizona,
reporting the assassination by Mexicans of Winfield S. Fritz and wife, formerly
of St. Clair. Mrs. Fritz was a daughter of
Martin Dormer, of this place. Mr. Fritz
went West some years ago in the employ of
the Diamond Drill Company. Some time ago
he bought a cattle ranch in partnership with
another man, and was living on it. In the
late mail last night Mr. Dormer received a
letter stating that trouble was brewing there,
and that they expected to leave.
ANOTHER REPORT
Tucson, A. T., Oct. 10.-Later information
respecting the recent murders at Rafferty's
Ranch is to the effect that the crimes were
perpetrated by a party who murdered a Mexican,
hanging him to a tree after maltreating
him, in full sight of the occupants of the
ranch, about two weeks ago. On Sunday the
party returned to the ranch, and, by killing
Winfield Fritz, his wife, Joseph Raymond
and James Rafferty, effectually removed
every witness to the previous crime.
